Welcome to PTB Machine Factory, where CNC turning is synonymous with ultimate precision and advanced technology. We are experts in CNC turning techniques and set the standard for innovative machining.

Milling & turning

PTB is your specialist in high-quality CNC milling and turning. We are more than just a machine factory; we are your partners who help you realise your vision in metal.

Milling and turning are two complementary machining techniques that we use to produce your parts. Both techniques are subtractive, which means that material is removed from a workpiece to create the desired shape.

Milling

Milling is a machining technique in which material is removed with a rotating milling tool. The milling tool has one or more cutting edges that scrape material from the workpiece. Milling is a highly versatile technique that can be used to create complex shapes and geometries. It can be applied to various metals and plastics. For example, for producing parts with complex geometries, such as milled surfaces, profiles, holes and contours.

Turning

Turning is a machining technique in which material is removed from a rotating workpiece using a cutting tool. The cutting tool moves along the length of the workpiece and cuts away material. Turning is ideal for producing cylindrical and symmetrical parts, applied to various metals or plastics. Turning is used to produce parts such as shafts, bushings, discs and pins.

Differences between milling and turning

Movement: Milling moves the tool across the workpiece, while turning rotates the workpiece under the tool.

Shaping: Milling is more flexible for complex shapes, while turning is ideal for cylindrical shapes.

Accuracy: Both techniques can achieve high precision.

Applications: Milling has a wider range of applications, while turning is specific to cylindrical parts.
